Gary Valenciano

Gary ValencianoBiography

Although Gary Valenciano, or Gary V., is one of the Philippines’ most multi-talented all around performers in the Philippines today, he is best known as a singer and songwriter. Known as Mr. Pure Energy for his dancing, Valenciano’s love of music is attributed to his opera-singer mother, Grimilda Santiago Ortiz Valenciano. He has also been involved in acting, producing, composing, and singing in various genres of music. Gary V. was born in Manila 1964 as Edgardo José Martín Santiago Valenciano, the sixth of seven children. Although his musical productions range from popular music to gospel, he is perhaps best known for his film music and theme songs. He was born and raised in the Philippines, and attended high school at La Salle Greenhills; there he joined a band called Kundirana, and his love affair with music began.

Around the end of his high school days Gary V. began performing on television shows, like “The Pilita and Jackie Show.” However, it wasn’t until his appearance on “Penthouse Live” that the music business people as well as the public finally noticed him. Two years after his first television appearances, his first concert opened to a sold out audience at Areneta Coliseum. That same year he toured Singapore.

Gary V. went on to make 21 albums of music ranging from film theme music to Christian gospel music. Three of these albums enjoyed international releases and several have hit astounding sales marks: four have reached gold, five double platinum, three triple platinum, and reached a stellar quadruple platinum. In 1999, Gary V. won several awards at the Awit and Katha music awards, and recently won their “Best Male Pop Vocalist” award.

Valenciano is also well known on the television, movie screen, and stage: he has appeared in films with some of the finest stars in the Philippines; on stage in “Joseph the Dreamer” (lead role); and on television in sitcoms, live television, and commercials. He also has had the honor of serving as a spokesperson for two UNICEF campaigns, and was appointed as the first National Ambassador of Goodwill for the group in 1998.

The PBB: Teen Edition is the edition of Pinoy Big Brother for teenagers belonging to the age group of 16-18 years and was telecast on the ABS-CBN network. Gerald is an upcoming model, TV and films actor. He likes the longhaired ‘morena’ girls and feels that Philippine girls have their own way to make a man feel special. And, he really digs this. Sexually active since the age of 16, Gerald has had three serious relationships, though he broke up with two of his exes since he had reservations about long-distance relationships.

These reservations are probably a result of the divorce of his parents two years ago. His father is an instructor in the Philippine Navy and shuffles between Olongapo and US. His mother is a Filipina and lives in General Santos City that has also become his home since he was 14 years old.

Gerald and his love-team partner Kim Chiu are currently the hottest love pairs in the Philippine showbiz industry. Gerald has also appeared in various magazines, and he models for Bench underwear. He acts in a number of TV shows under the ABS-CBN banner. His maiden movie ‘First Day High’ is due to be released soon.

After several weeks of stay in Sinagapore for the shoot, and months passed after the show she was into finally had finished airing, she thought that, that would be the end. Now that she’s a busy bee, most people think that she has no time for her family and friends and most of all, time to have a boyfriend. Well, what they thought was wrong because according to her, life should be balanced. She really makes time to be with her family and friends and also for herself. She is a type of person who want to pamper herself by going to spa for a massage and salon to do her nails. Of course, to a hard working like her, she really needs that kind of rest and recreation.

Talking about lovelife, Mariel has been very quiet and private when talking about this kind of topic. However, nothing stopped her from being linked to different celebrityt hunks like Zanjoe Marudo and the latest, Luis Manzano . Still, no confirmation from the young lady of the status of her relationship with either of the men.

What’s interesting IN Mariel’s life...

She is definitely the likes of Imelda Marcos when it comes to being a shoe addict. Asked if she has 1 million pesos what will she spend it to:

“I would spend it all on shoes! Is that mean? Should I be helping the world or something?”

“One thing people don’t know about me is… I sleep in a ratty shirt I’ve had for about eight years. The collar has even separated from the actual shirt, but I still love it!” - Mariel Rodriguez

Charlene Gonzales

Charlene GonzalesBiography

If nobody can appreciate Charlene Gonzales, then he doesn’t know what beauty is. Indeed, this 5'10" mother, wife, model , and actress embodies charm, wit, and character.

Charlene Mae Bonnin Gonzales Muhlach was born on May 1, 1974, in Manila, Philippines. Her parents are Bernard Bonnin, a very popular Filipino actor during the 1970s, and Elvira Gonzales, a former model and beauty queen. The marriage, however, didn’t last long. Charlene has one older brother named Richard, a model in his own right. Charlene was a nineteen-year-old student in the University of Sto. Tomas, taking up Bachelor of Science in Psychology, when she decided to join the prestigious beauty pageant called Binibining Pilipinas. Because of her unique beauty, which appears to be a cross between Filipino and Indian attributes, she was an instant hit and a crowd favorite. She also bagged the Best in Swimsuit as well as the Binibining Pilipinas Ms. Universe crown. This gave her an opportunity to compete among 70+ beautiful ladies all over the world. The affair was held in Manila.

The Miss Universe competition stirred controversies in Charlene’s life. For one, who could ever forget her high tide–low tide reply for the initial interview portion? Her winning as Best in National Costume also received negative criticism. Added to that, she wasn’t able to bag the award.

Nevertheless, this didn’t stop Charlene from being ushered into the entertainment arena. She soon found herself acting in TVs and films, such as Kalabog and Bosyo, Ikaw Naman Ang Iiyak, and Dyesebel where she played the lead role opposite Gary Estrada and Albert Martinez. On TV, she was Philippines’s Dance Empress and hosted Keep on Dancing. She also played the sweet and sometimes ignorant cousin of Agot Isidro in Oki Doki Doc.

Charlene was also famous in being associated with some of the country’s ultimate bachelors. She was linked to Dodot Jaworski, son of former senator and basketball player Robert Jaworski, where she learned to hone her talent in the sport. The grapevine states that even Troy was her former boyfriend. Yet nobody was able to guess that she’ll end up with Aga Muhlach , a certified ladies’ man and one of the finest actors in tinseltown.

Their love affair ended in a beautiful and serene wedding in one of the churches in Baguio City on May 28, 2001. Though lavish, it was well attended by the couple’s closest friends and family. What brought more surprise to the event was Aga’s revelation that Charlene was indeed pregnant to their twins, Andres and Atasha.

Moving forward, Charlene may have given up her dancing shoes in lieu of acting as a home expert in her new ABS-CBN show called At Home Ako Dito. Her face has graced giant billboards of all SM Department Store branches as well as the boob tube, with her commercials such as Lactacyd and Jollibee, together with her kids and husband.

Charlene tries to keep herself fit by engaging in cross-training in gyms as well as biking around their neighborhood whenever she still has time. She’s also fond of badminton.

Christine Reyes

Christine ReyesBiography

Christine Reyes isn’t living in her sister’s shadows, contrary to what other people may be saying. She isn’t the ultimate pasaway either, who’s bringing headaches to directors and production staff or starting fights among others stars. Sometimes she’s just misunderstood.
Christine was barely 16 when she had a brush with stardom courtesy of the reality-based talent show of GMA-7, aptly called Starstruck. She was one of the thousands who were able to make it in top 14. The weeks during the competition were grueling. They were exposed to a number of different challenges that aim to test their skills in the fields of acting, singing, dancing, and hosting. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to top 10. She was the second person to be booted out.

Nevertheless, blessed with good looks, oozing sex appeal, intense charisma, and sheer talent—not to mention that her sister is Ara Mina —she found her way into various television shows of the said station, including SOP Gigsters in 2004, Mulawin as Estrella, and two episodes of Love 2 Love, Pretty Boy (2004) and Miss Match (2005). She also appeared in popular TV series such as Darna, where she played the role of Molecula, and the TV adaptation of a well-known comic series Captain Barbell.

Early in her career, she also tackled serious dramatic roles in the movies Beautiful Life in 2004 and the horror flick Pa-siyam. Her participation in Say That You Love Me, along with fellow Starstruck 1 alumni Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado , allowed her to take much lighter and sweet roles, which are only fitting for her age.

It doesn’t mean, though, that he was out of men’s sight. Even at 16, she was already receiving a good number of offers to pose for men’s magazines. For her, it wasn’t still the right time. Suitors left and right were also never selfish to express their admiration on the beautiful gal such as Kempee de Leon. At 32 years old, he had no qualms of expressing his love for Christine, not until Ara Mina stepped in.

Christine was also subject to different kinds of controversies, notably pictured as the “other party” in showbiz relationships. The kissing photo between her and Joross circulated around mobile phones and eventually landed in a variety of entertainment talk shows. It also created quite a stir in the latter’s relationship with Roxanne Guinoo . The grapevine also blamed her for the ultimate separation of Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga. Both Christine and Janno vehemently denied the issue. Her rivalry with Katrina Halili also went to a more personal level when rumormongers started spreading gossips between each other. Thankfully, this was settled privately.

After gracing the August 2007 issue of FHM, Christine was set to launch her first starring role in Green Paradise until production problems led to her dropping indefinitely from the film. A sneak peek into the movie made her conclude that it was half-baked. She might as well let it go than allow it to destroy her blossoming career. Nevertheless, another one is in tow, with a working title of Manikurista, under Viva Films.

To maintain her figure, Christine engages in belly dancing and boxing.

Bianca King

Bianca King
Although born in Deutchland, Germany, Bianca King’s Filipino side still dominated when she decided to migrate to the Philippines with her family and start to pursue her dreams of becoming a celebrity. Like any other female personalities, she first started as a model then eventually changed her genre to acting where she landed the role of Aviona in the fantasy series in GMA 7, Mulawin. From there, it’s all uphill when consecutive projects came her way in television and in movies. Born March 18, 1986, Bianca Charlotte King lived a very comfortable life, simply living a wealthy, affluent life in Germany. However, she left her glamorous life in her country just to be part of a very atypical life in showbiz. Deciding to be an artist was actually out of fun and excitement only. At first she’s not the type of person who really is passionate in doing that kind of thing because for her, she just enjoys performing in front of the people.

As stated earlier, her first appearance as an actress in tv was when she was casted in Mulawin, an epic show in channel 7. According to her, she consider that moment the turning point of her career because she was able to show off her talent purely in acting. It would be a strange thing to say but Bianca’s frustration is acting because like what she believes, she is not that good at it unlike other female artists in her generation. Nevertheless, her role in Mulawin really impressed a lot of viewers thus making her another teenage icon in television and movies. She was then given major roles in movies like Mulawin: The Movie, Gigil and tv shows like Super Twins, a Filipino version of the power rangers.

A sexy pictorial was also offered to her that will be featured on the September 2007 issue of Uno Magazine. According to her, this was the most revealing pictorial she had ever done. Her rumored boyfriend Champ Lui Pio of the band Hale was also with her, the time of pictorial.

Having a chance, if she did not enter showbizness, she would definitely be in the field of advertising. Not all people know that she really is into doing television commercials. She’s a creative type of person that she shows off this side by creating or producing that kind of stuff. On the other hand, she also thought of doing fashion merchandising which she thought would be a successful thing she could do due to the fact that she’s a fashion enthusiast as absolutely shown in the way she dress.

In relation with her passion in doing and producing tv shows and commercials, she decided to go back to school and took up a course relative to that kind of activities. She is currently a sophomore student in De La Salle University- College of St. Benilde taking up Arts Management.

As a student, Bianca is said to be an active participant in class recitations and other school stuffs. She also admits of being a teacher’s pet because she really like making friends with her professors. Although the balancing if work and school is that hard for her, she realized that it would be better for her future conditions. At least when she could not become famous that much well in real life, she would be successful in other works she most likely wanted to do.

Bianca King also is said to be a sociable person. she loves going out with her friends which not most people know that her friends are mostly gay. According to her, she is more comfortable talking or going out with her gay friends because they are more fun to be with and more sophisticated unlike any other girl friends she has. The only problem she was getting in relation to his gay friends was that, whenever boys that would court her would somewhat condemn her friends. Most of his boyfriends actually are either homophobic or simply didn’t accept the friend she has which according to her, it really annoyed her. She thought that if she would be having another partner, that guy must accept her gay friends the way she accept her.

That kind of attitude really was admired by the viewers thus making her another young teenage icon in the showbiz industry. That even though she is rich, she's not the typical “maarte” girl as what people might think of her. That behind her pretty and suggestive image, is a simple girl who just wants to act and be admired.

Bianca Monica Gonzalez

Bianca GonzalezThere are only a few in the entertainment industry who possesses a good combination of wit, beauty, and talent. One of them is Bianca Gonzalez.
Bianca Monica Gonzalez was born on March 11, 1983, in Manila, Philippines. She’s the youngest in the brood of 3, which includes JC, a popular host of Studio 23 and other events. He’s now based in the United States.

It was never her intention to enter show business. In fact, she claims that she never even dared to participate in Christmas parties. Nevertheless, as they say, fate will always find you. Soon she found herself gracing in numerous teen’s and women’s magazines, as well as in billboards. Because her course was AB Mass Communications (with a minor in Philosophy), which she took up in Ateneo de Manila University and was a dean’s lister, she decided to apply in ABS-CBN and became a part of the production staff. She was one of the brainstormers for the network’s Creative Development Group.

From behind the camera, she moved in front of it, as she hosted Review Night in Cinema One, along with Ryan Agoncillo . She was able to hone her skills in hosting as together they tried to review movies released at the time. After less than one year, she then got another hosting stint in Wazzup Wazzup, as one of their “tadjocks.” She also became one of the hosts of the early morning talk show called Breakfast.

Later on, Bianca moved to one of her mother network’s shows called Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas. However, it was during her stay in Big Brother: Celebrity Edition that she gained nationwide publicity, both good and bad. She was pictured as a two-timer, having been allegedly involved with fellow housemate Zanjoe Marudo while going steady with Direk Lino Cayetano, who was then her boyfriend during that time. Yet despite of harsh criticisms, she still emerged at the contest’s third placer, after garnering a total votes of 19 percent of 245, 594 votes.

Bianca is also a regular hosts of the youth-oriented show called Y Speak; TFC Connect, where she gets to discuss popular and controversial issues of Filipinos abroad; Blog: Bakada, a showbiz talk show; and the newly launched Entertainment Live along with Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga, whom she considers as her closest friends. She also wrapped up hosting stints in Star Dance, Pinoy Dream Academy and all two recent installments of Pinoy Big Brother.

If you can’t see Bianca on TV, then you can definitely catch her in print and TV endorsements. She is the face of Pink Soda, a women’s apparel, Globe, Pantene, and Kotex, to name a few.

On a more personal note, Bianca is very much aware of her imperfections. For one, she grew up with a lot of scars on her legs. She admits that she’s never the kikay type or a sporty woman, though she’d love to try out new adventures. Most of her money is spent in traveling all over the world as well as in collecting Chuck Taylors.

She also grew up to be an all-time Kuya’s girl. In fact, her outlook in life, her personality, and basically the manner she does things are because of her brother’s influence. She was also caught up in a controversy involving her father, who was pictured to be alcoholic. Nevertheless, this was brought to a close once she went out of Big Brother’s house.

He is the only PBA player to win both Rookie of the Year (ROY) and Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors, in a single season (1989). As its star Forward-Center, Paras led the Shell Turbo Chargers to championship titles. University Stint

(UP) A prized recruit from San Beda High School, Paras started as center for University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, where he once scored 19 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and blocked seven shots against rival Far Eastern University. The prized UP player had all the basketball essentials in him-- agility, rebounding strength, and shooting touch. A year(1991) later Shell and Ginebra would meet again in the Finals (Reinforced Conference), Paras and the Tubro Chargers seemed poised to beat the Gins once again after taking a commanding 3-1 lead, but the Gins made a dramatic rally and coming back from the 3-1 deficit and winning the title in a classic Game 7 encounter that featured Rudy Distrito's game winner.

Paras was also selected to play in the 1990 Asian games Basketball Team that won the Silver Medal, coming up short against China in the Finals/Gold Medal match.

In 1992, Paras and the rejuvenated Turbo Chargers now with Leo Isaac, and Rey Cuenco led Shell to another title, winning it over the San Miguel Beermen. After 1992 title, Paras and Shell would show inconsistencies as it flirted to the cellars in several occasions. But Paras managed to earn a trip back to the Finals (Commissioner's Cup), thanks in part to import Kenny Redfield and supporting casts Peter Naron, Richie Ticzon, Victor Pablo, Jojo Lim etc. in 1996 and battled the grandslam seeking Alaska Aces, then known as the Alaska Milkmen in an unbelievable 7 Game series which Alaska won. Paras was also a contender to win the MVP in the 96 season of the PBA.

Paras would then re-enter the Finals 2 years later in the Centennial Cup Finals this time meeting the Talk N Text Phone Pals then known as Mobiline Phone Pals, in a one game title showdown, Shell came up short. Paras would get his revenge thanks to the help of Noy Castillo and Gerald Esplana as the rematch was set for The Governor's Cup Finals of the PBA against Mobiline. Shell came back after trailing the series 3 games to 2. Shell and Mobiline battled into a gruelling 7 games until Shell prevailed due to timely baskets by Paras and Esplana.

In 1999, Paras dominated the Filipino-Americans(Fil-Am) laden PBA by leading Shell to another Finals appearance this time against Tanduay Rhum Makers bannered by Fil-Am Eric Menk and the deported Sonny Alvarado. Paras held his own against the two taller, stronger and more athletic Fil-Ams as he led Shell to another title winning it 4-2. That would be Parás' last title, as his team was unable to stop the San Miguel Beermen in the title showdown for the Commissioner's Cup. Paras would win his 2nd MVP since 1989.

For his last three years, injuries plagued his playing career and it was so bad he only saw action in 44 games from 2000 to 2002. Before the opening of 2003 season, Paras, at 34, has finally called it quits.

Paras played in a total of 574 games in his career. Not counting the 2002 campaign, he collected 10,322 points, 4,402 rebounds, 1,822 assists, 1,323 blocks and 221 steals.

Alfred Vargas

Alfred Vargas Solo PictureBiography

A young, rakish, broodingly good-looking bloke with a strong personality and ample sex appeal,Alfred Vargas has everything it takes to make it ‘big’ in Philippine Entertainment Industry!
Born on 24 October 1981, in San Juan, Manila, Philippines, Vargas began his showbiz journey in 2001. Vargas just recently completed the assignment of hosting a reality TV series and if ready to create waves by taking on a new challenging role in the new GMA drama series ‘Muli’, which will be telecast during the afternoons.
A self-confessed basketball and badminton freak, Alfred Vargas has a body that not just entices but also invites a lot of ‘Oohs’ and ‘Aaahs’ from his female fans. A passionate person, Vargas likes to do everything he takes on with complete passion and dedication. Be it then, a commercial, a TV serial, or a Film. He just doesn’t compromise!
He appeared on the cover of a coffee-table book sponsored by Walker undergarments, and the title of the book says it all – ‘Sexier than Nude?’ Vargas looks blazingly hot and incredibly sexy in the cover pictorial and exudes raw sensuality.
But fashion for Vargas is not defined entirely by the current trends in the fashion world. He prefers to be comfortable while being stylish. So he usually dresses up in a shirt, jeans and sneakers. His fashion icons are Brad Pitt and Jude Law…!
When asked by a journalist why he entered the big bad world of entertainment, Vargas was quick to response that, ‘I love acting. And had I not become an actor I would have probably become an attorney.’ Most people consider the movie ‘Bridal Shower’, the sexy comedy, the turning point in this young model’s show biz career. His role as Joebert in Bridal Shower was highly appreciated by his fans. This role also helped him make new fans! His other movie credits include - ‘Hihintayin Kita sa Langit’, while TV shows he has acted in are ‘Daisy Siete’, ‘Love To Love’, ‘Encantadia’, and ‘Etheria’.
However, without a girl by his side as of now, Alfred is hopeful that one day his search for Miss Right will soon be over.

Albert Martinez

Biography

He was hoodlum, gay, father, lover, teacher, drunkard, drug addict, masochist—name it, almost every type of possible role there is was already played by Albert Martinez. Indeed, he still remains one of the most sought-after and bankable Philippine actors for a very long time, this, despite the emergence of new breed of equally talented young ones.

Albert Reyes Martinez was born on April 19, 165. His brother, William, was also a matinee idol. At first Albert wasn’t really into the limelight, only William. He would often recall those times when he would be driving along him in photo and film shoots, as well as when he’s filming TV commercials. William became part of the famous bagets, when he starred in Bagets 1 in the early 1980s.

Nevertheless, there was fire and passion that kept on growing inside Albert’s mind and heart. When he was a college student in University of Santo Tomas, he became part of the school’s theater guild, Teatro Tomasino. However, he could not fully commit himself to several activities because he was also a hard-core Engineering student. All these changed when William nudged him to try out show business.

It wouldn’t be long before Albert would heed to such advice. He found himself auditioning together with Ricky Davao for the movie Totoo Ba ang Tsismis, where both of them got the lead supporting roles. He then appeared in a number of notable films like Bakit Ba GanyanBata Pa si Sabel, and Blue Jeans, which became his launching vehicle under Regal Films. Because there were more offers flooding in, he had to eventually stop studying.

However, before the 1980s end, Albert was suddenly out of the limelight. He decided to elope with Liezel Sumilang, the only daughter of actor Romeo Vasquez and actress Amalia Fuentes. She was also the cousin of Aga Muhlach . Liezel had just celebrated her eighteenth birthday, when she decided to get away from her household and traveled with Albert all the way to the United States. There, Albert was definitely not a super star or a hunk actor. Rather, he was a gasoline station attendant, which he had to do in order to support his wife and their soon-to-be-born daughter.

They first went to Las Vegas, then to Los Angeles, where they resided for six months. In 1991, they moved to San Francisco. Times were hard, though, more so for Liezel who had to attend to the family without any kind of help. They were also trying their best to make their ends meet. Thus, by October 1991, the family moved back in the Philippines , particularly in Cubao, where they have lived since 1994.

It seems like Albert hasn’t really left. He then starred in several sexy but critically acclaimed films like Scorpio Nights 2SeguristaMumbakiTatsulokSidhi (where he won Best Actor), andMagnifico (which gave him two Best Supporting Actor Awards). He also played Rizal in Rizal Sa Dapitan. Albert was also prominent in TV, the last one being Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara.

Albert was once linked to Snooky Serna and Sharon Cuneta . He also considered himself a ham actor during the early part of his career. It was only during an acting workshop with Eric Morris that he was able to let himself go and be one with the characters he play.

AJ Perez

Aj PerezBiography

People say that stars are born, not made—though it may take a while before  it can be really seen. Yet for AJ Perez it took one commercial to eventually tap into his innate potential and become one of the youngest and most sought-after bachelor in tinseltown.
AJ Perez was born Anotonellio Joseph Perez on February 17, 1993. He came from a well-off family, as both his parents are businesspersons in their own right. Nevertheless, he didn’t grow up getting everything he wanted with a flick of a finger. There wasn’t a silver spoon stuck in his mouth.
It was in one of Milo’s commercials that ABS-CBN’s bosses discovered AJ. With his boy-next-door looks, young charm, and hopefully strong acting capability, he became one the members of elite Star Circle Batch 13, along with Victor Basa and Chris Gutierrez. This is a pool of fresh blood who want to prove their worth in the entertainment industry.

His first taste of acting came when he was one of the first regular casts of the youth-oriented show called About Ur Luv, which is now in its third season. He’s only 13 years old. He played the character of Josh, who is supposed to be a fraternal twin of Hillary, played by Empress Schuck, and the more happy-go-lucky and relaxed between the two. He also set his eyes and heart on Nelle, portrayed by Lauren Young . Even at their young age, the chemistry is already undeniable that they are starting to form legions of fans who are carefully awaiting any of their sweet moments in the TV show.

Besides About Ur Luv, AJ also appeared in one of the earliest episodes of Star Magic Presentsentitled All about a Girl. He played the role of Egay, alongside Piolo Pascual (Alvin). It revolved around the story of a very shy girl named Lea (Lauren Young) who fell in love with Alvin after she misinterpreted his brotherly concerns. Egay, on the other hand, was secretly in love with Lea.

Despite his rising popularity, however, AJ still tries and manages to keep his life as average as possible. He is currently a student in De La Salle University Greenhills where is he is in Grade 7. With his 5'8" frame, he is one of the best varsity players in their basketball league. He also finds time to squeeze in his studies, where he is getting exemplary marks. AJ hopes that even when he is no longer in show business, he can still pursue his another great love, which is basketball.

In the meantime, he is going to bank on his being a matinee idol material. The offer may come as a big surprise, as he himself didn’t expect that he’ll catch somebody’s attention very soon. Nevertheless, he wishes to make the most out of the opportunity that is given to him. He wants to become of the finest actors in the Philippines. And with the way he develops a certain love affair with the camera, it wouldn’t be too long before his dreams come true.

How sweet! Ito ang masasabi ko, kung isa ka rin sa bumabalak na manira at sirain ang pamilya ko, Hindi kita uurungan o kaya gusto mo, pupuntahan kita sa Wowowee at ipagsigawan ang kalandian mo. BIO:
Name: Celestine Cruz Gonzaga
Nickname: Tintin
Screen name: Toni Gonzaga
Zodiac Sign: Aquarius
Birthdate: 20 January 1984

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL:
She got her first big break as a fan of Piolo Pascual in a softdrink commercial, at the age of 17 years old. She recalls that at that time, “Masaya ako at excited kasi ito yung first lead commercial ko tapos Piolo was there di ko nga ineexpect na nandun sya.” (I am happy and excited because this is my first lead commercial after Piolo was there and I did not expect that he was there.)[citation needed]
Toni later became one of the co-hosts of hit noontime variety show Eat Bulaga! (GMA-7) where she started her showbiz career. At about the same time, she joined Studio 23′s Wazzup Wazzup as one of the anchors and was tagged as the “News Diva” because she always seemed to deliver the news with such a powerful voice.[citation needed] (Studio 23 is a subsidiary of ABS-CBN, widely regarded in the Philippines as GMA-7′s competitor.) Toni Gonzaga as the News Diva.
After signing with ABS-CBN (and leaving GMA7), She encountered different accusations of being ENGRATA but she is not, They had meetings with GMA before she left and the said network welcomes Toni whenever she want to. Toni quickly became a part of such shows like the Most Requested Show (MRS) with Roderick Paulate and Amy Perez. Of which she says, “masaya katrabaho mga beteranong artista kasi aside sa magaling sila at enjoy kasama marami kang matutunan sa kanila.”[citation needed] She was also a part of Entertainment Konek (ETK) with Ogie Diaz, which she enjoys because of the fun environment. She also signed up as of the female co-hosts of the then-novel reality show, Pinoy Big Brother. “Natutuwa ako at nagpapasalamat kasi they (Management) considered me at they trusted me na maging part ng malaking show na ito,”[citation needed] she says. She shares that the offer to be a part of PBB came before their group went to perform in the US for the US Kapamilya Caravan. She took up AB Communication Arts at the University of Santo Tomas.
In 2006, she diversified into music and came out with her first music album called You Complete me. Released by Star records, this album is a romantic hit and included songs like We belong, love fool, Kung kayak o and Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso.
SIMPLE AND BEST
Toni grew up in a Christian family with a heart for the people. Even before she started her career in showbiz, Toni has always felt the need to reach out to other people. She was once a Sunday school teacher in her town. She also ran for Baranggay Kagawad in Taytay, a position she lobbied hard for, recalling how she went door to door when she first campaigned. Toni is now in her 3rd year as a Kagawad where she is in charge of the “Clean & Green” campaign of her baranggay. She says, “Inelect ka nila sa posisyon and they have their trust in you na magagawa mo ang trabaho at service mo sa kanila.” For Toni, she understands that her celebrity is just one aspect of her life and it shouldn’t stop her from doing a good job in the public service arena.
In spite of celebrity stereotypes, Toni enjoys the simple life. On her downtime, she likes to stay at home and to play with her 1 year old Golden Retriever named WuWu (named after her show, Wazzup Wazzup) “Minsan lumalabas kami to eat outside, watch movie, ganun masaya basta kasama mo family mo” she says. She enjoys going back to the basics so much that she says she would easily last in the Big Brother house for 100 days. “Di naman ako mahilig sa mga cellphone, ganun” she shares. Toni admits, though, that the she would miss being able to surf the internet if she were in the Big Brother house. She says that she loves to surf, and she regularly reads the forum posts about her, especially the ones with negative comments. She figures that reading albeit sometimes hurtful opinions help her grow as an artist.
Ever bent on self-improvement, Toni is currently taking AB English – a shift from her Mass Com course. She feels that her new course will help her become a better host. “May mga practicumer kami sa show na nakakausap ko then nakakakuha ako ng idea from them in broadcating” pertaining to the trainees in her shows.
TONI ENJOYS
With her numerous hosting jobs & growing career, Toni certainly feels blest. She says she especially enjoys working in Pinoy Big Brother because “masaya kasi at magaan ang ambiance at ang set.” When asked about her thoughts on the housemates, she easily says, “Na-meet ko sila personally kasi ako sumundo sa kanila kaya alam ko kung saan sila nakatira at ang atmosphere ng life nila kaya i have no doubts kung bakit sila ganun kumulos sa loob ng bahay, kasi totoong tao sila talaga.”
Aside from PBB, Toni enjoys working with people like Vhong Navarro, one of her co-hosts in Wazzup Wazzup. She’s thankful that she has also gotten to work with Ms. Nova Villa, and other co workers in her shows.
Aside from enjoying her work, Toni feels she is just your average 21 year old, who just happens to be on televisoin from time to time. In her 4 years in the business, Toni’s biggest learning in life has been to know whom to trust, and to always follow your parents. “Wala kang mapagkakatiwalaan maliban lang sa mga taong totoo sayo at sa pamilya mo sila yung nariyan para pagkuhanan mo ng lakas at inspirasyon,” she affirms. When asked where she sees herself after 5 years, she only smiles and says everything happens in God’s purpose and will.
