Charice "freaked out" upon learning she would sing "All By Myself" for Glee

Charice "freaked out" upon learning she would sing "All By Myself" for Glee

The red-beret loving character Sunshine Corazon will be part of Glee once again!
Viewers last saw Charice in the pilot episode of Glee Season 2 wherein she engaged in a singing showdown with Rachel Berry (played by Lea Michelle) through the song "Telephone." Rachel wanted to get rid of Sunshine so she tricked the Filipina exchange student to going to a crackhouse. Still, Sunshine wowed the rest of the New Directions glee club with her rendition of "Listen."

However, Sunshine got a better offer from Vocal Adrenaline, prompting her to switch to the rival glee club.

In the upcoming episode of Glee, Sunshine will be facing the members of New Directions to offer her help for their upcoming benefit concert.

In a brief preview uploaded on TVGuide.com, Sunshine denies allegations that she was spying on the New Directions glee club. She also guaranteed that her "600 Twitter followers" would watch the concert.

She made an emotional appeal by saying, "Please let me show you what I can do. I'd like to sing the perfect song about neglect: 'All By Myself.' I'm such a better singer than everyone else so I know how it feels. I'm all alone at the top. Also, I'm really short, so even when I'm in a group of people I feel like I'm wandering alone in a forest."

NERVE-WRACKING EPISODE. In a separate video interview, Charice admitted that: "It felt like I was shooting the first episode again. It was nerve-wracking! I just couldn't believe it. I'm here again. It felt like the first time."

She then revealed that for this episode, "I will be singing 'All By Myself' by the legendary Celine Dion. When I found out about the song, I freaked out. (Click here related article).

"It's been crazy. I've been singing that song since I was a kid. That song has been a part of my life."

Gone before 30: Local celebs who died young

Gone before 30: Local celebs who died youngThe picture of young actor AJ Perez standing beside a portrait of the late actor Rico Yan made more poignant the parallelismnoted by ABS-CBN executives about the two young stars.

"If he gets the right breaks, he'd be like a Rico Yan," Johnny Manahan—the chairman emeritus of the network's talent arm, Star Magic—boldly told YES! (May 2011) in an interview for the magazine's list of showbiz faces to watch for.

Mr. Manahan had voted him in as part of ABS-CBN's "The Next Big Thing." This meant that AJ, among hundreds of hopefuls, was among a dozen or so who were going to be given every opportunity to shine in the next three years. The network believed in him.

Obviously, Mr. Manahan's comparison of AJ and Rico hit a chord with the industry. The two boys did share similar backgrounds and traits: Both look wholesome, possess boyish good looks, and fit the idea of would-be matinee idols; both are promising actors with the charisma to last long in a fickle industry; and both are proud La Sallians.

Sadly, AJ and Rico also shared a fate no one could have anticipated or wished for: Both were taken away from this world too soon. They were at the peak of their youth.

The shocking death of AJ last Sunday, April 17, while on his way home to Manila from a provincial show once again reminded us of the celebrities who passed away at an early age.

Young stars like Julie Vega, Miko Sotto, Marky Cielo, and Alfie Anido, among others, left not just image and career behind with their unexpected demise.

They left unfulfilled all the promise and potential that they had been privileged to have.

"screaming" in the street before arrest

Nicolas Cas was "screaming" on the street before arrestNicolas Cage was "screaming" in the street before being arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 16).

The 47-year-old actor—who was taken into police custody over the weekend after allegedly pushing wife Alice Kim during a drunken row—stunned onlookers with his behavior in New Orleans as the pair argued over which house they were renting in the French Quarter of the city.

Barman and local street performer Peter Bennett—who lives near the properties the couple were arguing over—told People: "Apparently he had mistaken the house of my neighbors for the other house up the block that he is actually renting. His wife was trying to persuade him from disturbing the elderly couple who do in fact live in that house.

"He was running around and screaming in the street."

According to Bennett, Cage—who is filming a movie in the area—is actually renting the house three doors down and when police officers arrived, the National Treasurestar started to get into the back passenger-side door of the car.

He added: "But the cop got out, walked around, and Cage ran a block south toward the river, where he tried to get into a cab. There was a woman outside with a baby in her arms shouting, 'Please don't hurt us.'"

The Oscar-winning actor was then arrested after an officer ordered him out of the cab, and according to an inmate at a nearby jail, was "intoxicated" while in the prison's holding area.

The inmate added: "He was drunk. He wasn't in a cell. He was behind the counter with all the other officers."

After being bailed by Dog the Bounty Hunter, Cage is due in court to face charges on May 31.

Taylor Swift buys $1.4 million house for her parents

Taylor Swift buys $1.4 million house for her parents
Taylor Swift splashed out on the property for Andrea and Scott Swift in Nashville, Tennessee, and is said to be visiting them there when she's not working in Los Angeles.

Taylor Swift has reportedly bought her parents a $1.4 million estate.

The 21-year-old singer splashed out on the property for Andrea and Scott Swift in Nashville, Tennessee, and is said to be visiting them there when she's not working in Los Angeles.

Built in the 1920s, the new home boasts three bedrooms, 5,000 sq ft of land, a blue stone terrace, and a huge outdoor fireplace.

A source said: "It's an incredible house. Taylor's been visiting her parents there and she's so excited for them."

Meanwhile, the blonde beauty is also said to have bought a new home for herself in Los Angeles, where she spends most of her time when she's not in Nashville, to save on accommodation costs whenever she visits the West Coast.

Another source told Us Weekly magazine: "[Taylor] just bought a beautiful home for herself in L.A.. She is in L.A. so much—and she was paying a fortune in hotel charges!"

It's no surprise that the "The Story of Us" hitmaker has been so generous to her parents, as they have been extremely supportive of her career.

Taylor recently spoke of how Scott is her biggest fan and even goes to the effort of handing out her merchandise.

She said: "My dad is adorably optimistic, positive, pie-in-the-sky. He thinks every new song I write is my best. He sells T-shirts at my merchandise stands and hands out guitar picks to fans."

It is her mom Andrea who has kept the musician grounded throughout her ascent to stardom.

Taylor said: "Mom is a planner, an organizer. She's very strong and practical. She's the person that'll tell me if I ever start to change my personality. The balance of the two of them created my personality."

Christina Aguilera's divorce has been finalized.

The pop star's marriage to music executive Jordan Bratman was legally ended yesterday (April 15) in California after the required six-month waiting period from the date divorce papers were filed by Christina in October 2010 had elapsed.

The former couple had already finalized a settlement in February and had agreed to share custody of their three-year-old son, Max, although the specific terms of their care agreement have not been made public.

It is believed they divided their assets according to their prenuptial agreement.

Christina—who is now dating 25-year-old Matt Rutler, who she met when he worked as an assistant on her film Burlesque—recently admitted she has learned to laugh about the "hiccups" in her personal life.

The singer-and-actress—who was arrested for public intoxication along with Matt in March—previously said: "I can laugh about my own hiccups and my own experiences in life because I'm getting through it ... In light of the past year, there have been obvious setbacks. I've gone through a really hard divorce, and anyone who has gone through a divorce will speak about how hard the journey is from start to finish. It's a life-uprooting time and there have been hiccups along the way that unfortunately the whole world gets to witness and judge."

Prince William misses first wedding rehearsal

"I know that I am very fortunate. I have the support of my family and friends, I do a job I enjoy—and I have Catherine," says Prince William about his future wife,

Kate Middleton.

Britain's Prince William was unable to attend his first wedding rehearsal with Kate Middleton.

The 29-year-old beauty—who will marry the future British king in 14 days time on April 29—took part in her first run-through at Westminster Abbey in London yesterday (April 15), but William was unable to attend because of his duties to the Royal Air Force in Wales.

However, his brother Prince Harry and Kate's sister Pippa—who will be Best Man and Maid of Honor—were able to make it.

A representative from Clarence House said: "We can confirm that Catherine Middleton and Prince Harry took part in a rehearsal at Westminster Abbey this morning."

Timings for the event later this month have also been confirmed today, with the first guests set to arrive between 8.15 a.m. and 9.45 a.m. at the Abbey's Great North Door.

William's grandmother Queen Elizabeth will be among the last guests to arrive at the venue, taking her seat at 10.45 a.m., ahead of the marriage service, which begins at 11 a.m.

Discussing his bride-to-be recently, 28-year-old William revealed he felt "very fortunate" to have her.

He said: "I know that I am very fortunate. I have the support of my family and friends, I do a job I enjoy—and I have Catherine."

Nicolas Cage arrested for assaulting wife

Nicolas Cage arrested for assaulting wife
Nicolas Cage was taken into custody after he refused to get out of a taxi when asked to by an officer who had been alerted by concerned onlookers. Cage was charged with domestic abuse, disturbing the peace, and public drunkenness.

Nicolas Cage was arrested for allegedly pushing his wife during a drunken row.

Police in New Orleans say witnesses saw the 47-year-old actor—who appeared "heavily intoxicated"—arguing with Alice Kim in the early hours of yesterday morning (April 16).

The couple were outside a house in the French Quarter which Nicolas said they were renting. But when Alice told him the property was not the one they were staying in, the actor reportedly grabbed her arm and started hitting cars before shouting at a police officer.

He was taken into custody after he refused to get out of a taxi when asked to by the officer who had been alerted by concerned onlookers. Cage was charged with domestic abuse, disturbing the peace, and public drunkenness.

According to the police report, the officer "immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated" and his wife showed "no visible signs of injury."

The Drive Angry star was released on bail today (April 17) for £11,000 by former reality star Duane Chapman, according to RadarOnline.com.

Duane—known for appearing in Dog The Bounty Hunter—reportedly had his company issue the bond through local firm Blair's Bail Bonds. His wife Beth wrote about the incident on the micro-blogging website Twitter.

She tweeted: "My guy just walked out of the jail damn new Orleans 8 hours holy cow that's a lot of time to process one guy. (sic)"

Rachelle Ann Go Biography, Profile and Picture Gallery

Rachelle Ann Go (born August 31, 1986), she rose to prominence after winning the second season of the reality show Star For A Night renamed as Search For A Star, hosted by recording artist Regine Velasquez. She has since gone to have established a very successful recording career and is hailed as The Ultimate Champion.
Rachelle was born in Manila, Philippines and is of Chinese descent. Fondly called Shin or Shin-Shin by her friends, Rachelle’s interest in singing started at a very young age. Her father predicted even before she turned a year old that she was destined to be a singer. As a child, she showed signs of having a flair and passion for music. When she turned six, she underwent vocal training and lessons and, by the time she was nine, she participated in her very first amateur singing competition and won the first prize, belting out Jennifer Holliday’s “And I Am Telling You,” in spite of being the youngest contender.
She became a veteran of singing competitions and has consistently won several contests. Her television debut on “Eat Bulaga!,” a hit noon-time variety show, happened when she was just eleven. She competed in the show’s contest “Birit Baby” where young aspirants belt out vocally challenging songs. She ended up receiving the runner-up award but was highly praised for her take on a CĆ©line Dion classic, “All By Myself”.
In 2003, along with a thousand hopefuls, Rachelle auditioned for the second season of the Philippines’ leading talent search, Search for a Star. Rachelle breezed through the preliminary rounds and found herself among the top twelve contenders vying for the coveted recording prize during the finale. On March 13, 2004 Rachelle was announced as the second grand champion, following Sarah Geronimo, singing her rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Through the Rain”.
Several weeks from winning, she collaborated with Philippine rap group Salbakuta for a cover of the Laura Branigan 1980s hit Gloria; she then released it as a CD single.
In July 2004, Rachelle released her self-titled debut album with the singles “Love Of My Life” and a remake of “Don’t Cry Out Loud”. It also includes her own cover version of Selena’s “Dreaming of You”. She was then part of the Night Of The Champions U.S. Tour opposite Sarah Geronimo and Erik Santos. She then released a duet with Christian Bautista entitled “You And Me (We Wanted It All)”. She is also a talent of VIVA Entertainment Group and is part of ABS-CBN, The Kapamilya Network’. She was involved in variety shows such as ASAP and ASAP Fanatic.
During November 2004, Rachelle represented the Philippines in the Shanghai Music Festival where she won the silver prize and the Best Song award for her LP album track “From The Start”, which she later released as a single. In 2005, she was named the Most Promising Female Singer by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, a prestigious award giving body recongnizing the year’s best. On April 29 2005, she earned top-billing on her very first major solo concert hailed as Rachelle Ann Go, The Ultimate Champion. Rachelle delivered an exceptional performance and the concert has received massive accolades and rave reviews.
It was Rachelle’s breakaway feat from just being part of the Champions Circle. In here she instituted her mark as a solo recording and performing artist. One of the most notable points of the show was Rachelle’s take on Regine Velasquez’s R2K Concert airborne act, where she was suspended in mid-air as she opened her show. Later that summer Rachelle reunited with her fellow champions for what was to be their last ensemble concert performance to date. The show entitled Pinoy Idols: Return Of The Champions is a series of shows in the United States. The two-month tour featured Rachelle with contemporaries Sarah Geronimo, Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Frenchie Dy and other winners of reality singing competitions.
On November 2005, Rachelle released her second album I Care under VIVA Records. She currently hosts the second season of the reality show Search For The Star In A million alongside her fellow champs Erik Santos, Sheryn Regis, and Mark Bautista.

Rachelle created a big buzz when she underwent plastic surgery for her I Care album. Rachelle’s win has thrusted her into the life of a public persona almost instantly. Fame has somewhat kept her from leading a private life. Rachelle had her shares of controversies and rumors like many other artists.
She has been strongly chastised by critics for her inability to make a name for herself. Her frequent mimicry of artists like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and Regine Velasquez in her singing style was prevalent early in her start as a singing champion. She was panned as another product of the clichƩ pop-idol machinery and who would ultimately dissolve from the industry. But Rachelle and her management were on the verge of building up an invincible career for her.
She was placed on regular stints on TV shows as host, singer, and actress, joined fellow champions for concerts and tours in the Philippines and abroad and finally, establish her mark as a solo artist via her albums and concerts. This strategy in due course has worked very well for Rachelle. In no time, she was a household name and a recognizable artist among fans and critics alike.
Her sometimes sly and provocative image separates her from the stereotype teeny-bopper pop star. It was very evident that Rachelle was a diva on the rise both in style and voice. Rachelle has also been pitted against Sarah Geronimo, who during her start has already achieved phenomenal success in singing, movies, television and commercial endorsements. She had a tough act to follow, yet she managed to carve a totally different, yet all-the-while equally successful path as Geronimo did, proof that Rachelle had broken away from the shadows of her predecessor.
Both singers remained good friends and have created a lasting friendship. Her personal life was also a feast for many writers and press people. Rachelle was linked to several male celebrities of her generation and was rumored to be sharing close relationships with them. But she denied any truth of going out with artists like Mark Bautista, Erik Santos Jed Madela, Luis Manzano, and John Prats. But Rachelle has publicly admitted that she shares a very close relationship to fellow singer and balladeer Christian Bautista whom she constantly and exclusively dates.
Even though both singers have denied any truth to the gossip that both of them are already committed to each other, they stated that were on the path of getting to know one another. Finally, after courting her for about 2 years, Christian and Rachelle appeared on The Buzz to clear the issues between them, and admitted that they are officially a couple as boyfriend and girlfriend. She also finally stated, on national television (also worldwide via TFC), “I love you” to Christian. Christian is Rachelle Ann’s first boyfriend.
Rachelle Ann Go has also admitted in a noon-time showbiz show The Buzz that she underwent rhinoplasty to enhance her image for her second album, “I Care”.

Ara Mina Biography, Profile and Picture Gallery

Ara MinaHazel Reyes-Mathay, who is better known by her screen name Ara Mina (born May 9, 1979 in Manila, Philippines), is a Filipina actress, model and singer. She is a grand daughter of former Quezon City mayor Ishmael Mathay, Jr. She won the Golden Screen Award in 2004 for Best Actress in a drama in the Philippines. Since 1998, Mina has been a regular cast member of Bubble Gang, a sketch comedy television show in the Philippines.

She is the daughter of Chuck Mathay, a former Philippine congressman from Quezon City. Her sister Cristine Reyes is also an actress with GMA Network. She had to leave GMA and her show Bubble Gang due to ABS-CBN’s exclusive contract and having her show Prinsesa ng Banyera as Angelika de la Cruz’ replacement for her role.

Ara Mina is a mixture of everything nice and not. You can see her answer with straightforwardness all the intrigues thrown upon her, yet her sweetness reflects by her princess-style bedroom in her lucky house, which, unfortunately, is up for sale as of press time. But what makes Ara totally unique from all other sexy actresses and starlets emerging today?

Ever since, Ara Mina wanted to become part of the entertainment industry, perhaps inspired by her mother. At an early age of 7, she was already joining pageants sponsored by her school, where her usual talents will either be singing or acting. However, it was only in her stint in That’s Entertainment, hosted by German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, that she got the first taste of show business. She was 13 years old then.

Like any other alumna of the youth-oriented show, she was trained in numerous artistic crafts, like singing, acting, dancing, and hosting. Yet despite her exposure, her career never took full flight.

Then sexy roles started pouring in. Hardly thin but very voluptuous, Ara Mina was considered very appealing and sensual by a variety of directors. She also decided to keep her present name, which was derived from the names of her other two sisters.

Ara Mina started appearing in numerous X-rated movies, such as Init Sa Tag-ulan, Sagad Sa Init, Pahiram Kahit Sandali, Tatlo Magkasalo, Banatan, Phone Sex, and Maldita. She was also a famous covergirl for a number of men’s magazines in the Philippines such as FHM.

But Ara Mina is known to be a very patient and determined woman. Her luck turned positive when she was offered the role of a Chinese woman named Richelle Go who was in love with a Filipino man (played by Richard Gomez ) in Mano Po. She was able to bag a Best Actress Award for her subtle yet very strong performance. This was followed by her portrayal as a woman who’s lost faith in religion in Ang Huling Birhen Sa Lupa, which shares a similar plot with Himala of Ishmael Bernal.

Ara Mina is also a regular cast of Bubble Gang, GMA 7’s comedy show, which is on its way of celebrating its 10th year anniversary. She was able to showcase her comic side, which could be far-fetched from the roles she currently plays in other TV shows and in the movies. She’s also a singer too, whose first single Ay Ay Ay Pag-ibig became an instant hit among the masses with its catchy lyrics and tune. Meanwhile, she considers her second album, Moving On, as her way of going past all the intrigues that may be surrounding her private life, including a public spat with Aiko Melendez, the erstwhile wife of her then beau Jomari Yllana. Her third album will be released soon.

Entrepreneurship is also one of Ara Mina’s expertise. If she’s not taping any shows or movies, or if she’s not abroad doing concerts, she keeps her hands full in her number of businesses. She owns Osteria 88, an Italian restaurant, and is a co-owner of Bubble Gang Toppings, whose other managers include the rest of her show’s co-stars. She is also managing Posh, a talent agency, for over a year.

Ara Mina is also an avid collector of things. She has toy cars, angel figurines, and more than 200 bottles of perfume.

(UPDATED) Star Magic talent AJ Perez, 18, is dead

In the April 2011 issue ofYES! magazine, AJ Perez was included on its list of "The Next Big Thing"— artists who the network executives think would be the nextbig stars.

AJ was one of ABS-CBN's bets for stardom.

AJ was killed in a vehicular accident in Paniqui, Tarlac at 12:20 a.m. today, April 17. He was 18.

THE YES! ARTICLE. The following is the full write-up of YES! about AJ:
AJ Perez entered the scene quietly. A bit too quietly. If you ask Mr. M [Johnny Manahan]. His lines in his early movies (among them Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo) ended up on the cutting-room floor. The Star Magic chairman emeritus recalls watching those movies and thinking: "Two or three movies, wala siyang linya. Wala siyang linya! I'm waiting for one line. 'Please, Lord, give him one line. Wala."

And yet, there it is, inscribed in a phrase above AJ's full-page photograph in the 2010 Star Magic catalogue: "The One Who Is Next In Line."

Launched as part of the Star Magic Batch 13 in 2006, AJ has bided his time, doing guest stints in weekly drama shows like Star Magic Presents Abt Ur Luv and Your Song Presents Underage, or showcasing his dance moves as part of the Gigger Boys in the Sunday variety show ASAP. Until last year, he had yet to commit to any major teleserye. A senior high-school student at De La Salle Greenhills, AJ continues to give priority to his studies—and any work taking him out of school premises three days a week just has to wait.

This is the major reason, theorizes business unit head Deo Endrinal, why the boy has yet to make a dent in the consciousness of the public. Still, anyone who saw AJ's aggressive turn as a brash neophyte who has to spend a night in the morgue as part of a hazing ritual, in one episode of the horror anthology movie Cinco, would be hard-pressed to deny that AJ's magnetism almost overwhelmed his hapless co-actors.

Deo sees that promising performance as an indication of AJ's dedication to his craft of acting. "He wants to be a good actor! He constantly checks on you whenever you bump into him. 'How's my performance? Were you able to monitor? How's my performance so far?'"

That dedication is even manifest in his exercise regimen, as AJ has put in gym time to turn his once-lanky frame into a manlier body. Slowly, the boy-next-door features are metamorphosing into chiseled, matinee-idol looks. The reason behind all this work on his physique? AJ took the big step of signing on to the nightly soap Sabelas one of the male leads.

Deo says he persuaded the budding heartthrob to sign on by admonishing him that he cannot keep letting opportunitues pass him by. "I told him, 'If you miss out on Sabel, I'm not sure if the next big opportunity will come your way!' He will have to juggle senior high school with Sabel—and that's hard."

But Mr. M is confident that AJ will handle the pressure just fine. "If he gets the right breaks, he'd be like a Rico Yan." We'll stand in line for that.

AJ'S WAKE. According to AJ's dad, the young actor's wake will be held at La Salle Greenhills Chapel starting today, April 17, until Tuesday, April 19.

It was also in La Salle Greenhills where the wake of the the late Rico Yan was held in April 2002.

Just like Rico, AJ was a Star Magic talent and a La Sallista.

AJ Perez, or Antonello Joseph Sarte Perez in real life, was pronounced dead at "12:20 a.m."

The cause of his death, according to reports, is "multiple head injuries," which he sustained after his vehicle was hit by a bus and a truck in Paniqui, Tarlac.

Here's the official statement of ABS-CBN that was sent by Its head of corporate communications Bong Osorio: "Kapamilya talent AJ Perez passed away early this morning after being rushed to a hospital in Tarlac. Together with his father, 2 road managers, a driver and an event marshal, they met a vehicular accident on their way back to Manila after a provincial show. ABS-CBN sympathizes with AJ's family on his untimely demise, and urges everyone to pray for the eternal repose of AJ's soul and for the family and loved ones he left behind"

Showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz had the chance to talk to the young actor's parents.

On Twitter, he wrote the reaction of Mr. Gerardo Perez (published as is): "Sana, panaginip lang to, Ogie. Si Aj ang buhay namin ng mami nya, bakit sya pa? Sana, ako na lang."

Mr. Perez was with his son when the accident happened.

AJ's mom Victoria was still reeling from the shock when she spoke to Ogie in a phone interview. Her words, according to Ogie's Tweet: "Tinanong ko si dadi, bat ang tagal nilang umuwi? Pauwi na raw sila from Dagupan, pero nag-aalala pa rn ako, d ko alam kumbakit balisa ako."

The Star Magic talent just finished his show in Dagupan, Pangasinan, which celebrated its annual Bangus Festival.

Here's Ogie's report via @ogiediaz:

AJ is set to star in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya this April 30. Prior to this, he was one of the male leads in the TV series, Sabel.

About four hours ago, his second to the last tweet @ajperez17 was about the trip: "On the way home already from Dagupan. Long drive ahead... Thanks to everybody who watched..."

AJ's body will be in La Salle Greenhills starting this afternoon until Tuesday lunchtime.
